First day of work. Been out of action for more than a month. Naturally, takes some time to get the rust off this morning. And of all the days, it rained today. Not a good sign -_-" The office environment makes me feel like working in GES again with the high cubicle walls and the managers' cubicles all lined up against a side of the room. Hit the ground running, no honeymoon period for me. A lot of things to study and my office PC is not delivered here yet. Have to make do with a laptop that is thicker than my phone. It's gonna be a busy month ahead.

我家有一只河东狮
The promise my wife wants me to fulfill these days.
Taken from the movie 《我家有一只河东狮》which she watch in the hotel room during our trip in KL.
My reply?

The Number 444
Jim Carrey has an upcoming film called "Number 23" about a man obsession with the number 23 after reading a book that seems to be based on his life. I somehow find a bit of connection on this as people who knows me know that I am obsessed with the number 444, so much so that the number 4 is by favorite number. It is no joke. I find that everywhere I go the number will appear through various forms. E.g. My first home in Redhill, the unit number is #04-44. My parent’s Jurong flat block number is 444. I always see car license plate X444 or 444X when I travel on the road. Is there someone or some higher power trying to tell me something? Dun ask me to buy 4D, done that and doesn't work.

My KL Trip
Went to KL for a short holiday with my wife over the weekends. It is a relaxing trip as we shop till we drop. Err... correction, it’s my wife shop while I drop :p. Anyway, at the end of the first day, we went for some foot reflexology session to ease our aching leg. It is my first time trying such "pleasure" as my wife claims. Well, on the contrary, I felt I was being tortured. The Thai masseuse introduces me to pains on different areas of my feet I never flet before while enjoying my facial responses lol. But I slept very well that night as I seldom sleep well on my first night away from my bed. So the massage really works. :)
The next morning, I get to try the enigmatic Singapore fried beehoon, a dish that can only be found outside Singapore. If you ask me, it does not taste any different from the economy fried beehoon. Other than this, I find food in KL are quite cheap. Angie managed to eat Hong Kong curry fishball there. It is something she always wanted to try after watching countless Hong Kong artists ate it in their drama serials. There's also a lorry that sells Malacca Lok-Lok park at the roadside next to Sungei Wan. However, we decided to give it a miss because of hygiene concerns. :S
We stay at Berjaya Times Square and gosh the shopping mall there is HUGE!!! More than 10 floors of shopping madness! Actually there are only 8 floors, the top 3 floors are vacant, but still enough to make any woman excited and any boyfriends/husband crazy. Hehe. We also went to Sungei Wang, Plaza Low Yat and Mid-Valley shopping mall. Luckily, Malaysians have a lot of toy shops in their malls to attract my attention. Sungei Wang is like our Chinatown shopping centre while Plaza Low Yat is the KL’s Sim Lim Square. Perfect for IT geeks like me. However, we only discover the place on the second last day, so not much time to explore it. One thing Sim Lim should learn from Plaza Low Yat is Low Yat’s second floor is catered for woman shopping. So you can leave your female companion there while you go shop for your hardware. Haha… Now your girl-girl won’t get bored and hustle you to finish your shopping. ;)
As the Malaysia Formula 1 grand prix is coming next month, there is a lot of excitement in KL anticipating the event. I even was fortunate enough to take a photo with my favorite F1 team car, Ferrari. Hehe… Too bad I can’t take a photo of me sitting in it. Talking about something with speed, I did not manage to sit the famous indoor roller coaster ride inside Berjaya Times Square. My wife did not like the idea of me sitting in those rides. In the end, I managed to convince her to let me sit in the DNA mixer. Better than no rides at all. ^_^

Went down to Chinatown this evening with my wife. We decide to walk down to Clarke Quay to check out the latest addition to the long list of shopping malls in Singapore - @Central. We are surprise that there is walkway behind the mall next to the Singapore river facing directly to the newly revamp Clarke quay. Sitting there brings back a lot of memories for the both of us. Watching the boats shuttling tourists up n down the river remind us of the time when we walk down here from the hotel on the second night after we held our wedding banquet. We took the boat ride along the river, went down to boat quay to have supper at the famous big bowl porridge restaurant. The waves from the passing boats hitting the jetty reminded us of our first date sitting under the shears bridge chatting watching the tides hit the shores. It is definitely a nice trip down memory lane

The Quick and The Dead
I recently downloaded and installed the demo version of Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, aka CnC3. After playing it for 5 mins, I realised that I suck at Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games. Too many units and can't react in time. The only strategy I know is defend like hell then tank rush your enemies. Talk about being strategic. Guess I have to stick to playing turn-based games and first-person shooters (FTS). I will still buy CnC3 to play, but only at the easy settings. :p

P.S. Seck Tien: Guess I have one less reason to upgrade my PC for Supreme Commander. Hehehe.

TANK RUSH!

Earthquake Tremors
WOA!!! Just felt the tremors from the earthquake from Indonesia at my Punggol home. At first I thought I was feeling giddy. But I notice the wind chimes swaying even though there is no wind blowing. Still I treeat it as my imagination until I heard the report from the news on the radio. My sister-in-law have to evacuate her office building in CBD area. Who say there is no earthquake in Singapore?

Lately, a couple of my friends relationships with their partner is on the rocks. My wife starts to worry that we might end up like this. No relationships is plain sailing all the way. The path is definitely littered with obstacles. The couple have to work together to overcome it. I believe this is a test on the couple's trust, believe and love in each other. There can be only this much that people around them can do to help. I just hope they are about to get over their problems and become happy again.

Transition Period
I dun like changes especially when it comes to my working environment. Why can't everything be the same? Nowadays, I have been attending interviews and looking for jobs. The thought of having to adapt to new environment and meet new people is bringing me down, to the extent that sometimes I dun feel like doing anything these days. I know I should not be like this but I just can't help it. The past 2 years have been start-stop behavior for my career. Just when I have started to settle down on my job, I have to move on. I hate repeating the entire cycle of going for interviews, knowing people, getting familiar with the workplace and journeys to work. Really starting to get tiring with all these...
