Terminator Salvation

I watch Terminator Salvation last night and contrary to my colleague's comment that it is not nice, I find the latest installment of the Terminator series quite entertaining. One reason maybe is that I am a big fan of the Terminator Series and for years, the fans like me have been told in the previous installments of how the bleak the future will be. Finally, we get to see the future now.

For starters, the film is littered with references of the previous 3 films, from the famous line by Arnold Schwarzenegger to things seen in the previous films. Even the soundtrack from T2 is not spared. Fans like me will have a field day spotting the various Easter eggs in the movie. As for the film itself, rather than ignoring the events in the previous 3 movies, it linked up the various elements so that everything makes sense.

Action sequence is exciting and the storyline is good enough to keep me glue without making me move my finger to the skip button. Only complain is that I failed to catch it when it was showing in the theatres (all thanks to my colleague comment). Overall, it's a nice movie and i will definitely be watching out for the DVD release.

P.S. Saw the news that the U.S. is setting up a new command for their nuclear forces. Rise of Skynet?

National Day theme songs are getting from bad to worse nowadays. This is still truly THE National Day song for me. It really brings out the feeling of belonging to this country for all Singaporeans. Though I always complain about Singapore, deep down my heart, I still love this country. It's the government that I hate.

AIA Hellline

Sign up an AIA eCare account for my mother-in-law, but till now I have not received any notification letter from them. Called up their customer hotline to speak to an operator. After waiting from a long time, someone pick up. He say he will take down my message and someone will called back. I got a call back 7 hours later. =_=

WTF! WTF! WTF!

If they can get someone to take down messages, why can't the same person handle the customers? Why bother to take down messages when the damn response time is so long? By that time, people may not need the help anymore. When I hear that it is AIA callback, I told the operator that I dun need any help anymore since it takes so long for their responses and slam the phone. This is the worse so called "hotline" I have encountered.

Why Are Our Public Toilets So Smelly?

I don’t understand. I just don’t understand why public toilets in Singapore are so damn dirty and smelly. I don’t mean your neighborhood coffee shop toilets but the ones in big shopping centers. Is it because our cleaners did not do a proper job or is it because Singaporeans are such “bobo” shooter that our urine end up everywhere except the toilet bowl itself?

The other day I went to the public toilet in Ang Mo Kio hub. Upon stepping into the toilet, I was assaulted by a variety of senses. The air is filled with smelly stinky urine odor. The floor is wet and littered with toilet. I nearly fainted from the smell and sight. And this is in a shopping mall, the toilets in our neighborhood coffee shops or hawker centers are even worse.

We keep boasting how good our country is and are No.1 in everything, yet when it comes to toilet cleanliness we are way down near the other end of the list. We kept proclaiming that we are more developed and better than our neighbors; however both Malaysia and Indonesia surprisingly have cleaner toilets than we do. There is a problem with our society. Are we are too used to having someone there to clean up our mess that we start to ignore our basic understanding of keeping the toilet clean?

I am not expecting our public toilets to be super clean and smell like a rose, but at least remain odorless and an acceptable cleanliness, is that too much to ask?

One-Day Durian Buffet cum Shopping Trip

My family went for a durian cum shopping tour around 3 weeks ago in Johore. After crossing the border, we stop by this coffee shop for breakfast.

We reach our durian feasting location at around lunchtime. When we arrived, we were actually kind of disappointed. All along we thought the buffet would be held in a durian plantation with chairs and tables under a shelter. As it turns out, the durian feast is a walk off the main road in some sort of kampong area.

Each table/bus is allocated one basket of durians, where people will cut them open. It's a free for all and eat all you can session. xp The bad news is this will be our lunch! As I am feeling a bit heaty inside, I only took one seed of durian plus some rambutans and mangosteen on offer, plus two apples, which Angie brought along. :(

Who Needs Taxi Vouchers?

After hurting their profit margin by their constant fare increment. The taxi companies decided to give out vouchers to woo commuters back.

Who needs taxi vouchers? Just f*$#king remove the bloody 35% surcharges and reduce the damn taxi fare! Greedy bastards.

The two biggest taxi companies here are going all out to encourage ridership during these troubling economic times.

In the first three months of this year, the average number of daily taxi trips fell to 893,674 - the lowest it has been in five years. Latest figures for May saw patronage decelerate further with numbers dropping to 836,535 compared to 923,494 at the same time last year.

Taxis have been hit hard by the recession and commuters turning to a public transport system that has improved connectivity and options.

In an effort to reverse the downward trend, ComfortDelGro is launching a four-month campaign to give away $280,000 in taxi vouchers.

From Saturday, commuters can text their names and their receipt numbers to 71222 every time they take a taxi for a chance to win the vouchers.

The vice-president of sales and marketing for the company's taxi service, Mr Edwin Yeo, said: 'We believe that with so much more up for grabs this time, commuters will be further encouraged to take cabs.'

Comfort, which is the largest taxi company here with 23,000 taxis, said it had also launched other marketing promotions.

A partnership with Nets rewards lucky passengers who use the payment system with daily cash prizes. And NTUC Linkpoints members can chalk up points if they book Comfort cabs.

SMRT, the second-largest cab company here, is currently tempting customers with its four-month long 'Book And Win' promotion. The event, which began on June 8, rewards 15 riders a month with $100 worth of taxi vouchers. In the grand draw, the top prize is $1,000 worth of vouchers.

These measures are part of a push by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to help prop up the taxi industry. LTA is providing $1 million, to be matched by the companies, to hold promotions, discounts and tie-ups with shopping centres and tourist attractions.

A Case of Trusting the Wrong CASE

The recent Brooke Commercial School has not only raised the question on the reliability of local commercial business school but on the reliability of our CASE organization as well. Brooke was awarded the CASE Trust logo. This gave the students confidence that it is a reliable educational center. since the logo means that, from the CASE Trust site, the "businesses will not unwittingly violate the law". That's why it came as a shock to many when news broke out that the school is giving fake degrees. What is even more surprising is the way CASE responds to the queries on how the school is being awarded the CASE Trust logo.

According to CASE and its executive director, Mr. Seah Seng Choon, students are responsible to do their homework in checking up on the school. So much for protecting the consumers' interest. As someone state, C A S E stands for Can't Answer Sensible Enquiries. Well Mr Seah, they did and their research will shows that the school is CASE Trust registered, meaning it should be ok. If the CASE Trust logo cannot be taken into consideration seriously, what the F*&^K is it for? It is like telling people not to trust the Safety Mark on electrical appliances.

This is very irresponsible of CASE. This is not the first time it has shun its responsibilities in protecting the consumers. According to its website, CASE "is committed towards protecting consumers' interest through information and education, and promoting an environment of fair and ethical trade practices". If it can't even fulfill this, then why the hell we still need them for? Questions should be raised to CASE on how did they qualify business for the CASE Trust logo.

It is sad that we can't even trust anyone, not even an organization created to protect our interest. But then again, nowadays we can't even trust a monk, so who can we trust?

The above song by Hall & Oates is the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the news that Ho Chin will not be stepping down. The excuse they gave is that "Chip" Goodyear views are different from Temasek Holdings.

If that is the case, why did they want to hire him in the first place? Are they saying that they did not ask him his views on how he will manage the billions of Singapore funds during the interview? Or is this all a cover up as there are no good posts in Singapore for the PM's wife and she is too powerful to remain as a housewife?

So, does this mean the buying high and selling low trend is back at Temasek Holdings?

Cycling @ Pulua Ubin

Angie and I went to Puala Ubin on Sunday two weeks ago. Since this is my first visit to this island, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. We took a bus to Changi Village and have dim sum for breakfast at one of the coffee shops in Changi Village.

After breakfast, we proceed to take a ferry at Changi Terminal. Gosh, we are surprised at the number of people queuing for the ferry. Ferries arrivals are quite frequent so the waiting time is quite short.

Each ferry can take up to 12 people and cost $2.50 single trip per pax. The ferry trip itself takes around 15 - 20 mins. The weather is nice and cloudy that day with cool sea breeze blowing as the ferry move towards Puala Ubin

When we arrived at the island, the place is bursting with activities. The streets next to the jetty are filled with bicycle rental shops. Most of the bicycles are quite new and comes with gear change. We rented a two person bicycle ($14 whole day!) and proceed to cycle around to enjoy the nature breeze. It is a good trip to break away from the hectic Singapore life.

Since it is the rambutan season, rambutans are spotted dangling from the trees everywhere on the island. Other than rambutans, we also saw durian trees. We came to a spot where there is a huge crowd gathered. Turns out everyone there are plucking rambutans to eat. There is this uncle who is using a home made pole to reach those really bright red rembutans high up in the trees. He is also kind enough to borrow the pole to us to let us try our hands in getting the juicy fruit.

After getting frustrating in trying pluck the fruit down with the pole, I found a branch low enough for me to pull it down to get our hands full with a lot of rambutans. Though green in color, they taste just as sweet.

We were caught in a light drizzle on our way back to the jetty area. We end up having our dinner at the First Stop Ubin restaurant. They serve really fresh live prawns but sadly I can't eat those.

After our dinner, we ride around for a while more before returning the bicycle. We just managed to board the ferry back to the mainland before a heavy downpour came. Heng ah! Well this is a relaxing outing. Both Angie and I really enjoy the fallback from the busy lifestyle. Will definitely come back again.

Robots and 80s Action Star

Managed to squeeze some time to watch some movies over the past two weeks, with the help from the fast forward button. One of them is Transformer 2: Rise of the Fallen and the other is Death Wish series by Charles Bronson. Ok, I heard people say Charles who? He is an 80's action star; I will explain more of that later.

Let talk about Transformers 2 first. After all the big explosion and fancy action sequence shown on its trailer, I find the movie itself quite disappointing. The plot seems like hastily written and many of the characters or robots in this case seems to be there for cameo purpose. In fact, there are so many robots fighting for screen space that the monstrous Devestator in the cartoon series is reduced to being a gigantic vacuum cleaner. And the two Autobots twins are damn irritating. Can some Decepticons just blast them and their creators off the show? In summary, I only like three scenes in the entire movie
1. Optimus Prime taking on three Decepticons, including Megatron. Cool!
2. Optimus Prime clean house after getting an upgrade from Jetfire. Awesome!
3. Megan Fox running in the desert sands. Woohoo!

For Charles Bronson, he is a famous 80s action star. I grew up watching his movies. The Death wish movie series is one of his more famous works. More details of this late actor can be found here. As to why I pick up his movie, it is started by my father. Death Wish 2 is showing on cable TV but the timing overlapped his karaoke session. So he ask if I can record the movie for him, which I get my friend, Google, to find all the 5 movies in the series for me.

Watching the movies bring back the memories. The supposingly hardcore action sequence then looks funny compared to those found in the movies these days. It really shows how movies have evolved over the years. As movie audience starts to mature, demands for action sequence and scenes to be more realistic is getting higher and higher.

High Tech Cleaner

Send my faulty graphic card for repair the other day since it is still under warranty. The shop is promoting this high tech cleaning gel by showing the video below. I was bought by the commercial and bought one to try it. So far it works quite well, really able to clean those small hard to reach areas. Furthermore, it leaves a nice lemon smell. The wonder of this gel causes me to search around the house looking for difficult to clean areas and try out my newfound cleaning tool. Kekeke

Think Before You Put That In Your Mouth

The new crackdown in rules on consumption of food and drink on the MRT although is a good move, the way the rules are enforce are a bit too far. Giving people fines for drinking plain water or even eating sweats shows that the authorities have no empathy for welfare of the passengers.

Does that mean we, as paying customers can't even enjoy simple things like quenching our thirst? So we have to endure our thirst or have a sweet to overcome the smelly BO from the guy sitting beside for the entire duration of our ride? So it's ok to vomit in the train because you can't eat a sweet to curb your giddiness while taking a train?

What if a tourist is caught drinking water on the train? Will they be fined or let off since nobody inform them that such acts is probated? Then this constitute to double standards, isn't it?

If the MRT is so eager to improve the ride experience, they should, as chillycraps said, fine those pole leaner, ah bengs who play loud music on their mobile and those sitting in reserved seats as well. In the meanwhile, remember to get off the train when you want to take a sip of water, else you will be drinking an expensive drink.

Milking the Dead Man Dry

Ever since Michael Jackson sudden death, the world suddenly went into a Michael Jackson fever. Every 10 mins, his name or music will pop up somewhere, be it in the papers, on TV or the radio. Even the music in shopping centers are playing his songs. -_-"

Everyone seems to suddenly become the MJ fan. When this guy is alive, nobody even bother to find out what's going on with him. Some even ridicule his weird behavior. Suddenly, after the news of his passing, everyone starting to buy his albums or praise how great a person he is. Just look at all those comments on every MJ youtube videos. Yeah right.... I find them all hypocrite.

Look at all the media coverage on his funeral. Every minor details is being shown. Do you really think they are giving the man respect? They are just riding the MJ wave, luring the sudden converted MJ fans into getting their products along with the sounds of the cash register. KA-CHING! Did they gave the same coverage to Farrah Fawcett who passed away on the same day as the King of Pop? None. Why? The money isn't there!

Like my mum used to say for this artistes, only in death will you be recognized and where your work will become valuable. This hold so true and sad for MJ that even in death, he is still being milked with no rest in peace

A Tribute to the King of Pop

So the King of Pop has left this world all of a sudden. For all his weird behavior and alleged plastic surgery, there is no doubt that he is a great entertainer. His dance moves and songs still thrill and bring people on their feet.

Rather than following the path of singing about love lost or gain, some of his songs are inspiring, telling us not to be racist or love the planet we live in. Songs like Heal the World, Earth Song, Black or White and my personal favourite, Man In The Mirror.

Getting More Hardcore

Dun know if it is due to the stress from work. Lately, the music I am listening to are getting louder, heavier and more hardcore. Breaking Benjamin, Slipknot, Disturbed and Static-X...

I love it the most when I can hear the heavy bass pounding in the background. With the music blasting in my ear, I seems to transport into another place where I can release all the pent up pressure inside me. All that rage inside that we cannot express in my normal life.

For some, these are noise to them and it only give them headache listening to such music. For me, it is a stress reliever. Sometimes it even clear my headache and helps me focus. I guess it what people say, one man's meat is another's poison.

So what's your poison?

Extreme Pak Chui Pa Stamp

Taking a break from my work in the office to surf the net when I came across this news. This guy has a serious case of Pak Chui Pa Stamp (Translation: Stamp Cover Eyes) problem. MUAHAHA

MediaCorp artiste Patricia Mok was reportedly molested early Monday morning at a nightspot at Clarke Quay. She has made a police report against the 31-year-old man who allegedly groped her.

According to a newspaper report, Mok, who is known for being quite the ‘party queen’, was approached by a group of men and one of them pinched her buttocks.

Mok, 37, was then heard shouting angrily, “Don’t play!”

However, the man who appeared to be drunk, took no heed of her warnings and reportedly went on to grope Mok’s private parts. The feisty actress then informed the bouncers and asked that the man be thrown out of the club.

Mok later confronted the man when she realised that he was still in the club. The two took their argument outside and a heated war of words ensued. She then called the police and the man was arrested at around 3am.

When contacted by Channelnewsasia.com, Mok declined to comment on the case as it is now a police case.

The man is now out on bail.

Mid Life Crisis?

Finding my life is meaningless lately. There is no goals or drive for me. Just find myself working aimlessly for the sake of it. All this endless running in the rat race is taking its toll on him. Is this the so called mid-life crisis people have been talking about? Living the zombie life and finding no where to go. Every night I drag going to bed. The thought of going back to work dreads me. I rather sit in front of the computer surfing aimlessly around. Is this normal? I believe I really need a break from life

PSP Go!

Here comes Sony with their new PSP called the PSP Go! At first I thought it is just another rumor until it debuts in Computex 2009 this month.

I dun quite like the new design. Maybe I am so used to the old one. Hands on reviews says that the buttons are kinda shallow. Hope Sony will do something about it when it is available in the market. My most concern is whether it can be crack to play our neighbourhood "friendly" games ;). And when it is available, I bet we can get alot of cheap slim PSP in the second hand market.

We Lost to A Better Team.

Manchester United got dethrone by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) Final last night. We totally did not show up for the match. Other than the initial 10 mins, we were totally overrun by the excellent Xavi and Iniesta in midfield.

The lost of Fletcher due to an unjust red car in the semi-final hurt us here. The first goal from Barca is the sucker punch that really knocks the wind out of us. It also stabilizes the Barca team, who has been nervy until that point of time. It gave them the confidence. Overall, our midfield performance is terrible and we employed the wrong tactics in trying to play attacking football against such a strong attacking team.

For the way we lost, somehow I did not feel as sad as I should be. Maybe it's the feeling that we lost to a better team. Considering we have won the league cup, the world club cup and our 18th premier league title on top of being in the FA Cup semi-final and UCL final, we actually have quite a successful season.

Home Made Chicken Rice

It started as a casual remarks as Angie colleague is buying ah-char, so I recommend that she made chicken rice to supplement it.

And so she did last night. She bought one whole chicken and marinate it. The chicken is cooked in hot water. Rice is made by using those over the shelf chicken rice sauce with white rice.

The result is very nice. It taste even better than some of the chicken rice sold outside. The chicken is not oily and very juicy. My wife cooking is getting better and better everyday.

Mas Selamat Staying In Malaysia For the Time Being.

So now the Singapore police (especially a certain Mr Wong) can breathe a sign of relief knowing that Mas Selamat will be detained in Malaysia for two years.

No more worries on where to lock him up or whether they should give him any toilet breaks. Come to think of it, ever since news of his capture are made known, we have not seen a single photo of him. All the news reports are showing old footage of him. Makes me wonder is he really been caught?

Until the news of his capture, we have totally forgotten about this man just within a year. Now that he is so called detained in Malaysia. I wonder anyone will still remember him two years later. Maybe this is just a ploy by our government to wash their hands off this embarrassing mess.

A tribute to my most favorite player of all time, Ryan Giggs. It's amazing that I have watch him play throughout his career from a 17 year old to now at 35. For all those wonderful young players groom under Sir Alex, I still believe Giggs is still his most favorite. A truly living legend.

Warp Back to Stone Age

My home PC broke down on Sunday night. It was working properly 4 hours ago. Dun tell me it’s over-worked because I hardly do anything stressful on it nowadays.

Since I am not sure which parts of the PC is toasted, I have to rush down to Sim Lim to get various replacement parts to test out each of them. Burn quite a hole in my pocket. Turns out it’s the damn graphic card. Luckily, the card warranty ends in June 2009 (how nice the timing in the failure)

Since I am repairing the PC, I also took the opportunity to clean out the innards of the PC and tidy things up. IN the process, I found that the cables of the power supply unit are burn like short circuited. I guess this must be the cause for the graphic card failure.

So I got a replacement for the power supply (the old one warranty is still valid, whew….) and my PC now is back and running again, allowing me to write this entry. For three days I feel like I was back into the Stone Age. I have no access to the Internet and I can’t do anything. It was definitely a torture for me.

But thankfully, the failure is not on the motherboard or CPU or else I would have to reinstall my windows operating systems and that is a real pain. As for the replacement parts I bought, I have to resell them, which will be at some losses for me. Anyone want an Intel E5200 CPU or Asus P5KPL-1600 motherboard?

This Blog Is Not Dead

Yep, I am still around. Been super duper busy these past few weeks. This is no thanks to some wonderful planning by the higher management in scheduling a complicated project to complete within 8 months with only a handful of engineers. So engineers like me are being hot dropped in as delayed becomes desperation in an attempt to speed up the process. We ended up working nights and weekends to catch up the impossible deadline. I got so many things to write, my trips in Taipei, my Batam trip and so many more thoughts and views. But when I get off work at the end of the day, all I want is to slouch around, clear my mind and sleep. In the meantime, just bared with this, k.

Old Town Coffee

Woooo... it's been some time since my last update. Too busy with work these days. As my colleague mentioned today, I look like a porcupine.

Yep, ever since I was duped into the printer project, I have been working overtime and weekends. Oh... this reminds me to ask for 2 off days from my project manager for last Sunday and accumulated OT hours. All these work result in me not able to find time to post my Taipei and the recent Batam trip.

Anyway, before I go off topic too much. Last Saturday, Angie and I went down to East Coast, Playgroud @ Big Splash for makan on the way back from my parent's place. I say, the place is happening sia. There are many people eating and shopping there. Yes you heard me right, shopping because there is a car boot sale there.

So we went to Old Town cafe for our dinner. The white coffee they served is the best coffee I ever drink. It's so smooth. Not too sweet and not too bitter. Just the right balance. After drinking that, the coffee at the canteen at my workplace taste like long kao (drain) water. The nasi lemak I have is not like those sold in your local coffee shop. The chicken is well fried and crispy. The rice is fragrant and kinda taste like chicken rice IMO. ROFL!

All I say is the food and coffee is very nice. Definitely worth going back. Maybe will organize a trip there with my family as the seafood restaurant (thanks to Jasmine) offer quite an affordable ala carte lunch.

Minimization

These days, we are seeing our electronics gadgets getting smaller and slimmer. That's the age of minimization. Making things more portable. Never have I thought they will do the same thing to fruits.

Yes, you did not read wrongly. Let me introduce the mini mango, mini watermelon and small pineapple. Now I can bring a watermelon to work without bursting my bag. :P

A few weeks ago, Angie and I went to Changi Village for breakfast and cycling. Often seeing some kids roller blading at my place. I decided to borrow my sister-in-law's roller blade to have a try myself.

We find ourselves a nice spot by the beach to put those blades on. After struggling to wear them (my sister-in-law have smaller feet than mine), I finally get to stand up with the blades on the grass area. Everything is so stable.

"HA! This is a piece of cake." I thought to myself, "Let's hit the road!"

Man, I was so wrong. The blades came alive immediately when I step onto the bicycle pavement. My legs keep wobbling trying to keep my balance. I can't even find the energy to push myself forward. Most of the time I am struggling not to fall on my backside. How did those kids and babes at East Coast do it?

After struggling for half an hour plus so humiliating falls and laughing by Angie, I decided to call it a day. I end up with quite a sore ankle from all the twisting n balancing. I guess it is not as simple as it looks then. :(

My Headphones Gone Wireless

Ah... my new Sennheiser wireless headphones have arrived. Bought it at Amazon and get vpost to ship it over here. Only problem is the power adapter is the US 110V. Have to go to Homefix to get an AC convertor. No more irritating and dangling wires.

The headphones works like a charm. The sound quality is excellent. I can wear the headphones and walk all the way to the kitchen without any loss in sound or drop in sound quality. Cool....

Saving Gas?

Angie bought those gas saver net, which supposed to help save your gas usage. The concept of the net is to increase the heat around the bottom of the pot, hence reduce the time for food to be cooked.

To prove this concept, I did a simple test. Boil a pot of 500 ml water with and without the net. And the results

Without Net: 3 mins plus
With Net: 5 mins plus

This is a shocking result! So instead of saving gas, I'm using more! Geez, I duno if this result is conclusive. Will try with a bigger pot next. Stay tuned...

Going Downhill

Wow, Man Utd must be feeling that the race for the EPL title is too easy for them. After getting thrash by Liverpool last weekend, they proceed to lose again this weekend and to top that off, got 2 players send off in the process. Well done.

I hope the international break will wake the players up from their slumber or else they might as well give the EPL title away.

We Had It Coming.

After watching how Manchester United shoot themselves in the foot and get thrash by Liverpool, I have terrible time sleeping last time. I just can't comprehend how we managed to throw the game away after taking the lead and end up losing 4-1. At Old Trafford, our home ground some more.

We had it coming. After winning with some sloppy play for the past few weeks. I know we have it coming. I never thought it will be this bad. I guess I got to thank the following people for making me lose sleep

Thanks Vidic for choosing to have your worse performance in this season at such an important game

Thanks Rooney for saying the hate thing before this match to fire up the opposition.

Thanks Evra for making a unnecessary tackle on Gerard resulting in a penalty for Liverpool to take the lead right before half time

Thanks to Carrick n Anderson for all their miss passes and letting the Reds overrun our midfield.

And finally, Thank you Liverpool for bringing Man Utd team back to ground. Now, they will wake up from their dreams and start to get serious in their play

P.S.: I never gonna watch Man Utd match when I am at my parent's place no matter how big the match is. Seems like everytime that I do that, they will lose. Either I rush home to watch or dun watch at all. >:(

I Am Blessed

Been overwhelmed with work lately. But something happen over the weekend which makes me realized how blessed I am.

To have a wonderful wife, who always thought everything for me and being there for me and forgive me for all my cock ups.

To have great parents, lowly educated they are, yet able to raise my sisters and I up to be honest and righteous adults.

To have understanding and supportive sisters, who always stand behind me and support and encourage me.

To have a helpful uncle, always willing to lend a helping hand to my family without asking anything back.

To have considerate in-laws, who spare a thought for us and offer to help us whenever they can.

And I always thought I was destined to have bad luck as always. What I fail to see all the wonderful family members that I have around me. I AM truly blessed. Thank you everyone for making me feel so :)

Life's Irony

Our life is such an irony. When we are young, we have all the time in the world but no money to do whatever the things we like. We work part time and save on our pocket money just to have that little bit more to buy the games, toys or bags that we so desire. All these times, we long for the days when we will grow up and earn a salary. With the salary we will be able to buy anything we want easily.

How irony it is that when we reach that stage, though we have money, we find ourselves lacking in another thing call Time. There are tons of things to do yet we always find ourselves running out of time. No time to shop, play games or enjoy ourselves. Everyday is the same routine. Go work, go home. How to find time for ourselves then?

So in the end, we are sort of back to square one. We still unable to enjoy the things we like. :(

Surprise, surprise.... I wonder what could be the reason for Ho Ching stepping down as CEO and Executive Director of Temasek Holdings from Oct 1. A result of the wrong investment decisions (read: Merrill Lynch).

And how appropriately named her successor is, Charles Goodyear. We certainly need that now.

Pay Cut!

Yes, it finally happens. 10% pay cut starting this month. Sigh....

And the funny side as my colleague puts in, our workload seems to increase and yet we are getting paid less for it. Well, that's the pitfall in working in a manufacturing sector. Production orders still take up the bulk of the company's income.

Sigh... Times are really bad now. You are paid lesser, work more. Your work is something you don't like to do but you have no option cause you have no where else to go... Sigh...


On a side note, today is the anniversary of the Munich air crash that took away more than half of a great Manchester United team in 1958.

Life Goes Back to Normal.

And so, CNY came and went. Life goes back to normal. All those hectic preparation and cleaning for the past few weeks just to celebrate those 2 days (some say 15 even though life goes back to normal on the third day in Singapore)

Off we go, back to our office and work. Looking forward to the next holiday... which will be in April... Sigh....
